About the Songkran Holiday

Songkran is the national Thai New Year. In Thailand this will be celebrated on April 13, 2014 and is traditionally a three day holiday that allows people to return home for blessings, celebrations, and the honoring of one’s family and respected elders. It is a time of forgiveness, repentance, blessings and celebration. It traditionally involves a water blessing ceremony, classical music and dance, as well as games and sports.

In the United States it is celebrated at local temples and on larger scales in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
